Professional Journey & Approach
Before joining Love First, Kathy practiced independently in Plymouth, Michigan, providing therapy to individuals, families, and couples. Through this work, she repeatedly observed the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship and the lasting positive outcomes it can generate.
Previously, she served as Vice President of Clinical Operations at Pathway Family Center, a long‑term adolescent treatment facility. Additionally, she served as an adjunct instructor in Addiction Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy.

Consultation & Intervention
You may wish to begin with a scheduled consultation with Kathy to assess whether intervention is appropriate for your family or to explore treatment possibilities. Consultations—lasting at least one hour—are available via conference call or in person in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area and can include multiple family members.
Family dynamics amid addiction often lead to emotional upheaval and chaos—conditions in which addiction can flourish. Kathy provides order, direction, and fresh options. A detailed history is gathered during the consultation, and a tailored strategy is developed to begin moving forward.
Kathy works collaboratively with families to develop individualized intervention plans rooted in the Love First methodology, which leverages the family’s natural care and concern in an organized way to break through defense and denial, creating a moment of clarity for the loved one to accept help.

Personal Foundation & Values
Kathy credits her engagement with Al‑Anon recovery for providing her with clarity on what she can—and cannot—change. Working the Twelve Steps gave her renewed direction—one she now brings to her family‑centered recovery work.
She lives in Canton with her husband, daughter, and a beloved array of animals. She volunteers with Waggin’ Tails Dog Rescue, where she fosters and finds homes for homeless dogs and raises public awareness about puppy mills.
